Age 81, of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly Fox Chapel. Passed away January 15, 2017. “Bud” was the beloved husband of Dyane Nelson Person for over 59 years. Father of Solon A. “Bud” Person IV (Constance) and Nelson Lewis Person (Louise), both of Fox Chapel. Grandfather and “Pappy” to Petra K. Person, Piper N. Person, Penelope N. Person, Parker T. Person and Solon A. “Beau” Person V. He was the son of the late Mary Lewis Person and Solon A. Person, Jr. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he and his mother spent the summers of his childhood and youth in Fox Chapel at his grandmother’s home. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and served his country as an army officer. Mr. Person worked in international industrial sales for Harbison-Walker Refractories as export sales manager in New York City and Pittsburgh. During this time he frequently traveled the world visiting steel companies in many different countries. He was later president of S. A. Person, Inc. representing international companies in South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Retirement years were spent enjoying his winter home in Southwest Florida. Mr. Person was a member of the Pittsburgh Field Club, the Duquesne Club, and the Bonita Bay Club. He was also a member of Christ Church, Fox Chapel where a private family memorial service was held at his request.
