Dale Richard MacKay

MACKAY, Dale Richard – Age 73, resident of Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, formerly of Upper Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Watford, he was a son of the late Robert and Pauline (Oickle) MacKay. Prior to retirement, Dale was a long-time employee in the administration office of the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation, Bridgewater. He enjoyed woodworking with his friend Lawrence and especially enjoyed the craft of fly-tying. He loved old country and bluegrass music. Sharing time together, talking, telling jokes and weekly visits with new and old friends at Rosedale. You are all his Rosedale family, he loved you all. Surviving are his daughter, Angie (Johnny) Connors and grandchildren, Bailey and Nathan, all of Pinehurst; sister, Judy (Tom) Fahey, Upper Northfield; sisters-in-law, BettyAnn MacKay, Pinehurst; Carol Ann (Keith) Harvey, Liverpool; Marilyn (Charlie) Bezanson, Lockhartville; Cheryl MacBurnie, Garlands Crossing; brothers-in-law, Frank Porter, Victoria, BC; Bernie (Bonnie) Porter, Winnipeg; Reg (Sandra) Porter, Fredericton; Ricky MacBurnie, Alberta; many nieces and nephews; “adopted” daughter, Kathy (Larry) Hirtle, New Germany. Besides his parents, he was predeceased in January by his wife of 52 years, Betty-Lou (Porter); daughter, Mary in infancy; brother, Tammie MacKay; sister-in-law, Pauline Porter; brother-in-law, Roy McBurney; niece, Kelly-Ann Porter. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A public service of Remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Rosedale Home for Special Care – Program Department.
