Lillian Frances Rhodes Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother, Lillian Rhodes, age 91 at home on Sunday, April 19, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ellen ‘Nellie’ (Nolan) McMullin. Lillian was a member of St. Anthony’s Church. She enjoyed playing cards with the club ladies, she loved baking especially her apple pies. In her pastime she was an avid knitter and enjoyed crocheting her famous Cape Breton Afghans that could be found all over the world. Lillian mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. Lillian is survived by her loving children, Brenda (Nelson) Bourgeois, Pamela ‘Chucker’ (Densil) Brooks, Arlene (Kevin) Buchanan, Gordie, Greg (Tracey), Janine (Ron) Coffin, John (Linda), Cathy (Louie), Fabe (Paula) all of Glace Bay, Billy (Clara), Flinflon, Manitoba; her precious 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister Kaye McNeil as well as many nieces and nephews. Lillian is also survived by her beloved cats, Magic and Misty. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Arthur Rhodes; daughter Cleo Rhodes; son David in infancy; brothers, Justin, Dave, Lou and Matty; sisters, Cleophas ‘Lokie’ Robinson, Lizzie MacNeil, Marie Redmond, Helen Stevens, Faustina MacDougall and Mary MacKinnon. Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Lillian may be sent to Palliative Care, VON or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be Thursday September 24 from 12-2 p.m. and a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, at T.J.
