Marjorie "Marge" Elizabeth Lindsay Obituary

LINDSAY, Marjorie (Marge) Elizabeth April 10, 1927 - April 10, 2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie (Marge) Lindsay. Daughter of the late Clephir and Bertram Vincent. Beloved wife of the late [John] Earl.Cherished mother of the late Kenneth (Kate), Kathryn, Margaret Henderson (Jon), John and Donald (Jeri). Loved by grandchildren Courtney and Samantha Lindsay, Christine O’Reilly (Mike), Sarah and Leo Freemark, Jessica and James Henderson (Lisa), Elizabeth (Beth), Rebecca (Beckie) and Ian Lindsay, and Nicholas and Alison Lindsay and great grandchildren Haley and MJ O’Reilly. Much loved sister of the late Kenneth Vincent (Ann), Glenyce Renauld (Charlie) and Yvonne Grice. Cherished sister in law of Dorothy Cooke (Joe) and the late Allan Lindsay (Marie). Marjorie, better known as Marge, was a graduate of Renfrew Collegiate Institute and worked at the Bank of Montreal before embarking on the full-time job of raising her family and being involved in her community. She and her husband Earl were residents of Renfrew for their entire lives. They showed their love for their town with enthusiastic involvement in many community institutions and initiatives. Marge’s time as official Town Historian, with a ‘shingle’ hanging just off Main St., remained a particular lifelong point of pride for her. Together they leave a rich legacy with family and their many friends. Marge and Earl established a family cottage on the Ottawa River in 1962, surrounded by family and friends in a Castleford enclave know by all as “The Point.” They spent many happy summers and hosted many family celebrations there, and it remains a gift treasured by their family to this day. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Quail Creek, Renfrew Victoria Hospital and Groves Park Lodge for their unceasing care and affection for our mother over the last decade. Marjorie will be interred at the Goshen Cemetery with other members of the Lindsay family at a later date. A Celebration of Life will also be held at that time. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation.
