Obituary
Vivian E. Bantrup, 92, of Dixon, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. She worked in the kitchen and central supply at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital, Dixon, from 1973 – 1980. Vivian was born July 23, 1923, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Glade and Bessie (Bellnap) Shaffer. She married Fred Bantrup on September 12, 1953, in Iowa. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dixon for over 60 years, Questers Antiques, and PEO. She loved her family and enjoyed the outdoors and camping at Governor Dodge State Park in Wisconsin. She is survived by her husband, Fred Bantrup of Dixon; one son, Fred (Linda Perry) Bantrup Jr. of Grand Detour; one daughter, Susan (Philip) Salstrom of Oregon; one sister, Glenadine Yeager of Hookerton, NC; six grandchildren, Christopher Bantrup, Aubrey (Jon) Setchell, Alex Bantrup, Christian (Lindsey) Grobe, Philip Salstrom, James Salstrom; six great grandchildren, Jade, Audrina, and Carson Setchell, and Taylor, Nolan, and Hudson Grobe. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Grace Kautzky and Geraldine Kolk. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Dixon, with the Rev. David Spaulding, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery in Dixon following the service. Memorials have been established to Dixon YMCA or Heritage Square in Dixon.
