Walter Szarko

Walter Szarko, 95, of Clark, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Mr. Szarko was born in Newark to Michael and Frances Szarko. He was raised in Hillside and was a resident of Clark for 23 years. Mr. Szarko proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a Navigator on a B-24 Liberator Bomber over Europe. He was a member of the American Legion Post #328 of Clark. Mr. Szarko graduated from Hillside High School and the University of Pennsylvania. He was the Owner of Larchmont Liquors in Union for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Szarko was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen (Mynio) Szarko and his brothers, John and Fred Szarko. He is survived by his devoted children, Janice Szarko, Elaine Seib and Susan Hawkins; his cherished grandchildren, Robin Ostenfeld Adams, Julie Ostenfeld, Heidi Seib Tsapelas and Michael Seib and his great grandchildren, Vivvienne, Grant and Bohdi. Those wishing to honor Mr. Szarko’s memory may make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 785817, Topeka, KS 66675. Funeral Services were entrusted to Walter Johnson Funeral Home, Clark. Interment was private in Brig. Gen. Wm. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown.
