James R. "Dick" Fox

James R. “Dick” Fox, age 84 of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born February 24, 1936 in Platteville, WI the son of Mickey and Helene (Coulthard) Fox. Dick grew up in Kendall Township in Lafayette County, WI until moving into the city of Darlington and later went on to graduate from Darlington High School. He married the love of his life, Jean Winslow on March 2, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot, WI. Dick worked at the Lafayette County Co-Op Creamery Association for over 40 years. He stayed busy even after retirement working for NAPA, Virtue Motors where he drove cars, did general maintenance for Wonder Wash and Lands End, and drove seniors for the ADRC. Dick is survived by his wife: V. Jean Fox of Darlington; his children: Steve Fox of Darlington, Dennis Fox of Evansville, WI, Rose (Randy) Leu of rural Darlington, and Terry (Edith) Fox of Darlington; his grandchildren: Brian (Christy) Fox, Sara (Josh) Stadt, Emily Fox, Dustin Leu, James (Lacey) Leu, Kenzie (Andrew Molzof) Fox, Taran Fox, Alex & Mia Fox-Vasquez, and Carrie Blaser; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister: Judi (Larry) Erpenbach of Nason, IL.; and three sisters-in-law Dolores Fox of Kenosha, WI, Mary Winslow of Darlington, and Mary Dunlavy of Argyle, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Bernard Fox; two daughters-in-law: Kelly Fox and Lori Fox; close friend and brother-in-law: Jim Winslow Dick was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, the Darlington Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and was a former 4H Softball coach. He enjoyed bowling and golfing in his later years. In his younger years Dick spent as much time as he could outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting (especially coon, deer, & ginseng). He especially enjoyed his time camping with his family and friends at Petenwell Campground in Adams County, WI. Dick cherished his family, especially his grandchildren – who he always spoiled – and the memories they created together. He will be truly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends and all of his Deer hunting buddies. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic a private family funeral service will be held at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington with Rev. Joji Reddy of Holy Rosary Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Truman Cemetery in Kendall Township. The family will be having a public celebration of life once the gathering bands are raised. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
