Eugene Ray Walls III, 51, of Springfield, died at 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in his wifes loving arms at home. Eugene was born on December 9, 1968 in Decatur, the son of Eugene Ray Walls II and Rae Jean Renner Walls. He married Joni Lee Jacks on August 10, 2018 in Lincoln. Eugene was in the United States Army where he completed four combat tours including, Desert Storm, the African Congo, Bosnia and Iraq. He was a highly decorated soldier in the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" specialized modular light infantry division of the US Army trained for air assault operations. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Joni Walls of Springfield; his daughters, Ashley Walls of Muscatine, IA and Riley Walls of Port Byron, IL; his son, Christopher of Springfield; his parents; and several nieces and nephews including Matthew Walls, Jr. and Breanna Geiger. Cremation will be provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Please contact Joni Lee Walls.
