Graveside services for Lucille Hood, age 101, of Philipp, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery at Paynes, Mississippi. Lucille died Friday, March 27, 2020 at the North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville. She was born on June 13, 1918 in Lafayette County and was the daughter of the late James Robert Ruby and Bessie Morgan Ruby. Lucille worked as a bus driver and a cafeteria worker for the school system. She was a member Philipp Baptist Church. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Lamar Hood; two daughters, Minnie Rebecca Hood and Nellie Mitchell; and three sons, Billy Hood, Donald Hood and Fred Hood. She is survived by one son, James Ernest Hood and his wife, Brenada of Coldwater; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Hood of Philipp; three sisters, Lou Ella Pennington of Memphis, Estelle Howard of Texas and Juanita Wooten of Batesville; one brother, Royce Clayton Ruby of Harmontown; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mortimer National Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
