Robert (Bob) Francis McStay passed away in his home in Corsicana Texas on March 26, 2020 at the age of 77. Bob is survived by his wife Linda, son Rob McStay and his wife Rosie of Houston, daughter Kate Daggett and her husband Jim of Double Oak, grandchildren Jackson, Dylan, Cole and Joshua, and sister Nancy Gorczyca of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Gertrude, and his siblings Francis, James, Jack, and Mary Ann. Bob was born on June 4, 1942 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He graduated from Cranford High School in 1960 and attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. Bob and Linda, high school sweethearts, were married for 53 years. Bob and Linda lived in New Jersey until 1981, before moving to Texas, and then to Indiana in 1989. They returned to Texas to Richland Chambers Lake in 2005 to spend time with their grandchildren. Bob was truly one of a kind. He was beloved for his wit, compassion and the ability to make everyone around him smile. He was a lifelong optimist, who overcame every hardship with inspiration and resolve. Bob’s greatest joy was his family, and he was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. Bob was also a hard worker, and a man of true integrity. He spent his entire career in sales with Acme Metals, retiring as a vice-president. His most enduring gift was his ability to make everyone around him happy to be alive. He no doubt entered Heaven wearing rose-colored glasses. Bob will be missed by many, he was not only a beloved husband, father and grandfather but also an amazing brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend. A memorial service will be held at a later date, as the result of restrictions arising at this difficult time in our nation. In Bob’s own words, he desired to “go through life with a smile on my face, a twinkle in my eye and to keep howling at the moon.”
