Cecil Dennis Gingrich

GINGRICH: Cecil Dennis The family of Cecil Dennis Gingrich sadly announces his passing on March 20, 2020 in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. Cecil was born in Guernsey, Saskatchewan on January 22, 1930. He was predeceased by his parents Irvin and Vera Gingrich, his brothers Raymond Gingrich, Arnold Gingrich, and Delbert Gingrich, sister Lorraine Cutting, brothers-in-law Art Cutting and Leslie Murdoch, and sister-in-law Sylvia Gingrich. He is survived by his sister Fern Murdoch and sister-in-law Audrey Gingrich, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. As a young man, Cecil left Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary, Alberta for work. In the 1960's his independent spirit took him south. For the next 40 plus years, Cecil lived and worked in the United States, living in Missouri and Arizona. He was a member of the Teamsters working as a truck driver in construction. After persuasion from his brothers and sisters, Cecil made the long drive home to Saskatchewan in 2009 living for a time with Fern in Moose Jaw before settling in Lanigan. Cecil loved animals and birds of all kinds and enjoyed living in Lanigan where he could go for walks outdoors. Thank you to all the staff at Central Parkland Lodge for lovingly caring for Cecil for the last few years and to Don, Cecil's cousin, for taking him out for coffees and always being there for him. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions a Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Sharon Mennonite Cemetery near Guernsey, Saskatchewan on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to Sharon Cemetery Fund (c/o Don Bowman) or the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation or an animal charity of your choice.
