PORTSMOUTH – George Frederick Cotton, 87, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 in his home. He was born on November 7, 1932 to the late Noble Cotton and Ella Cotton Clark. George retired as a ship fitter and shop planner from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth with over 30 years of service; and was a member of the Triangle Hunt Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Samuel Cotton and Noble Cotton. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte J. Cotton; two daughters, Nita Tant and her husband Ronnie and Shirley Harris and her husband Richard; five grandchildren, Ronnie Tant, Jr, Ashley Tant, Kelly Harris, Taylor Tant and Holly Harris; one great grandchild, Aubrie Herring; a cousin, Betty Poe; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
