<p>BANGOR and BUCKSPORT</p><p><br></p><p>Allen L. Deabay, 86, passed away March 20, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 17, 1933 in Ashland the youngest of thirteen children born to Mike and Melvina (Theriault) Deabay. </p><p><br></p><p>Allen graduated from Ashland Community High School in 1951 and later took continuing education courses at the University of Maine in Orono. In 1954 Allen married his wife, Sheila Emery. He worked in logging, paper and wood manufacturing and other forestry related businesses; having worked for Great Northern, St. Regis and Champion International Paper Companies. </p><p><br></p><p>He enjoyed time spent at the family camp near Ashland; hunting and fishing with his wife, children, and many relatives and friends. He also enjoyed hunting with his friends at the community camp at Hardscrabble. Special occasions and family get-to-gathers were also always enjoyed.</p><p><br></p><p>Allen was involved in civic affairs in both Ashland and Bucksport. While in Ashland he was president of the National Parent Teacher Association, a director of MSAD #32, a member of the Town Council, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In Bucksport he continued his membership in the Knights of Columbus holding positions of Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. He served as Eucharistic Minister and Lecturer at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church as well as being Chairman of the Financial Committee and President of the Parish Council. He was a founding director of the Bucksport Regional Health Center; also, a long-time director and past president of Seaboard Federal Credit Union. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Olive Howes, Gertie Berry, Sadie Eastman, Sophie Duprey, Annie Dupont and Marie Flanders; brothers, Clarence, Henry, Arthur, Freeman, and Mike Jr.; son-in-law, Stephen Clark.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sheila; six children, Emery Deabay and his wife, Marie of Bucksport, Janice Clark of Old Town, Ann Deabay of Bangor, Dawn Hester and her husband, Rick of Lewiston; Nancy Whitney and her significant other, John Parsons of Hermon, David Deabay of Bangor; grandchildren, Elaina Deabay, Mitzi Goldstein, Benn Clark, Megan and Casey Whitney: great granddaughter, Kylie Clark; brother, Omer Deabay and his wife, Pauline, of Bristol, CT; sisters-in-law, Freida Chase and Dot Dubay; along with many nieces and nephews. </p><p><br></p><p>Due to Covid-19 there will be a graveside service at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery to be announced at a later date.</p>
