Joanne Miller Poovey

Joanne Miller Poovey, age 81, of Denver passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Stanley Total Living in Stanley. Joanne was born February 1, 1939 in Lincoln County to the late Charles Cletus Miller and Ethel Hoke Miller. She was a member of Amity Baptist Church in Denver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Herman Poovey; an infant son, Benny David Poovey; daughter, Julie Poovey Hull; granddaughter, Ashley Poovey; and two sisters, Pauline Long and Jean Beal. She is survived by: 4 Sons: Keny Poovey and wife Sharon of Maiden; Tracy Poovey and wife Kathy of Denver; Stuart Poovey of Denver; Gary Poovey of Denver Daughter: Kendra Poovey and Rick Stroupe of Denver 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews Joanne will lie in state at Burke Mortuary in Maiden on Monday, March 23, 2020 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. without family members present. A private Graveside Service will be held at Amity Baptist Church in Denver due to recent government health restrictions. Memorials may be made to Amity Baptist Church in Denver. Burke Mortuary in Maiden is serving the Poovey Family.

Joanne was a dear friend and devoted servant of the LORD; I will miss her, but am thankful she is free from suffering, which she handled with grace and honored the LORD! FAITHFUL TO THE END.

Joanne was a mentor about life when I attended Amity Church. She was always smiling. She told me to live my life with the Lord in my heart. She was a special lady, I will never forget how much wisdom she had and shared with me. RIP sweet Joanne
