John Mack Tinney Obituary

JOHN MACK TINNEY passed away peacefully on March 6, 2020 after a battle with cancer. Born October 7, 1940 to Weldon and Marie Tinney of Winnsboro, Texas. A Dallas native, John graduated from South Oak Cliff high school and earned a degree in electrical engineering at University of Texas at Arlington. His career as a teleccom systems designer eventually led him to the position of Principal Engineer for Alcatel. Devoted husband to Nancy Tinney for 40 years and father to David Tinney of London, England and Emily Davis of Dallas. He retired in 2003 to care for Nancy until she passed away in early 2004. In 2008 he married Sallie Smith, and his family grew to include Sallie’s children and grandchildren. John was an avid reader, traveler and member of the Bedford Flyers. He is survived by his wife Sallie, his children, his brother-in-law George Edwards (Kathy) of Seattle, Washington and his sister-in-law Cathie Tinney of Midland, Texas, his son-in-law John Maltby of London, England, his stepdaughter Terre McGill (Shawn) and his stepson Ted Duchesne (Lydia), six grandchildren and one great grandchild. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford, Texas.
