Louis C. Jones

Louis Clifford Jones (Seedy) was called home on the evening of October 1, 2008. Lou was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Travis and Ruby Jones on February 13, 1931. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sybil, brother Billy Jones of Centre, Alabama, sisters Wanda Cagle of Ball Play, Alabama and Jean Young of Springdale, Arkansas, son Rick Jones of Orlando, Florida, daughter Linda Nelson and husband Kent of Las Cruces, four grandchildren, Zachary and Halee Nelson of Las Cruces, Derek Jones of Orlando, Florida and Erin Woodworth of New Jersey and two great grandchildren, Brian and Ashley Woodworth of New Jersey and many, many nieces and nephews. Although Lou had many pastimes his favorite, by far, was golf and was a member of the NMSU Golf Club and played golf at least three times a week. Another favorite pastime for Lou was his love of bluegrass music and was responsible for organizing several "jam sessions" at the Trails West Retirement Community clubhouse. Lou was retired from the United States Air Force in 1973 after honorably serving his country for 22 years in both Vietnam and Thailand. A Memorial service will be held at 10 am Monday October 6, 2008 at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Frank Zamora.
