Judd R. Haynes

Judd R. Haynes, 69, Mooresville, died peacefully at home December 12, 2015. Judd was born February 25, 1946, in Peru, to the late Charles R. and Betty J. (Garber) Haynes. He graduated from Oak Hill High School and proudly served in the United States Army. Judd worked at Overnight Transportation for 23 years. Most recently, he worked as the Safety Director for Old Dominion Freight Lines for 16 years, retiring in 2010. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7819 in Crewe, Virginia. Judd was also a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7431. Judd loved all kinds of cars and took great pride in his Viper. He was also a NASCAR fan and enjoyed cheering on Mark Martin. Judd was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed making cabinetry. He will be missed by a loving family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David R. Haynes. Survivors include his wife, Judy (Mahlerwein) Haynes, to whom he was united in marriage February 14, 1981; children, Letha Caldwell (Kevin) of Middletown and Jade Haynes (Kasia) of Plainfield; sister-in-law, Karen Haynes of Converse; grandchildren, Eric, Matthew, Hagan, Hensley, Holly (Jason), and Kendra; five great grandchildren. Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Judd R. Haynes on Thursday, December 17, 2015, 3 to 5:30 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Fr. Francis Joseph will officiate the 5:30 p.m. funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
