JoAnn Catherine Jeske, age 76, of Salem passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at her residence. JoAnn was born September 21, 1940 to Walter and Anna (nee Pisarec) Gracz in Kenosha. Her early life was spent in Milwaukee where she graduated from Bay View High School. On July 29, 1961 she was united in marriage to Alois L. Jeske Sr. Following their marriage they resided in Milwaukee for a few years before moving to Salem where they have lived the past 45 years. JoAnn was previously employed at Nestles for 28 years. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, loved baking with deserts being her specialty, and enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean, but her favorite spot to vacation was their cabin up north. The cabin was her sanctuary away from home. JoAnn loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them, especially the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. They meant the world to her. JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, of 55 years Alois, children; Alois Jr.(Margaret) Jeske, Doris (Tyler Konrad) Gaertner, Janet Jeske and Michele (Gary) Matthews, grandchildren; Aaron (Brittany) , Zachary, Natalee, Lauren, George, Anna, Alexandria (Cory), Courtney ( Andre) Brett and Jamie, great-grandchildren; Matthias, George IV, Layla, Lili, Kendal, Clayton, Harper and one on the way. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 6:00PM, at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 10 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM, at the funeral home.
