Joyce Elaine Dunham

Joyce Elaine Dunham, 76, of Alba, Missouri, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 25, 2020, in the comfort of her home. Joyce was born on February 11, 1944, in Wauneta, Nebraska. She was raised in Wauneta and attended school there before moving to McCook, Nebraska, in 1963. Joyce had a caring heart, which led her to earn her nursing license in 1983. She worked as a CNA at St. Luke’s in Carthage for nearly 15 years before retiring in 1995. She never knew a stranger and was always a comforting spirit to all. Joyce was the best cook and enjoyed making meals for her family. She also loved to plant flowers, read books and work puzzles. Joyce was a great listener and a mother figure to many. She took great pride in raising her five children and was always proud of having a close family. Joyce was a protector and had everyone’s best interest at heart. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Wilda Carol Hayes; her companion, Les Bland; her brother, Bob Hayes; and a granddaughter, Leticia Dunham. Survivors include her five children, Terry Dunham and wife, Jenny, of Carthage, Missouri, Debra Hedgcorth and husband, Chris, of Rogersville, Missouri, Jack Dunham of Carthage, Carol Hines and husband, Renn, of Alba, Missouri, and Dennis Bland and wife, AJ, of Alba; 16 grandchildren, Jeremy Dunham, Ashley Dunham, Lyle Dunham, T.J. Dunham, Elijah Beer, Tabatha Hedgcorth, Samantha Hedgcorth, Mariah Dunham, Sha'ma Dunham, Anthony Dunham, Tyler Dunham, Ronald Dunham, Katelyn Dunham, Ivan Bland, Leah Bland, Arianna Bland, Hudson Bland and Mackenzie Bland; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends. The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Christ's Church of Oronogo - Student Ministry Building. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
