Sr. Alice Lynch, CSJP
Sister Alice, CSJP aka Sr. Mary Clarice, 90, of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, died peacefully at St. Michael Villa on January 1, 2017. She was born on January 2, 1926 in Coromore, Valentia, Co. Kerry, Ireland to the late Michael Lynch and Mary Josephine Murphy Lynch. Sister Alice entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Cabra, Co. Down, Northern Ireland on September 8, 1950, and pronounced final vows at St. Michael Novitiate, Englewood Cliffs, NJ on August 22, 1957. A graduate of Seton Hall University, with a B.S. in Education and Fordham University, with an MS in Religious Education, Sr. Alice taught at St. Anne’s School, Fair Lawn, NJ, St. Mary’s School, Salem, NJ, St. Genevieve’s High School, Van Nuys, CA, Madonna High School, Weirton, WV, Immaculate Heart Academy, Washington Township, NJ, Lwak Girls’ Secondary School, Kenya, East Africa, Misikhu Girls’ Secondary School, Head Mistress, Kenya, East Africa, and Our Lady of Peace, Fords, NJ. Sister was the Director of Religious Education at St. Rose of Lima Parish, East Hanover, NJ, St. Mary’s Parish, Rahway, NJ, Guardian Angel Parish, Edison, NJ and St. Michael Parish, Union, NJ. Mater Delorosa Parish, South San Francisco, CA, St. Cecilia Parish, Englewood, NJ and St. Nicholas Parish, Palisades Park, NJ. Sr. Alice was Pastoral Minister at St. Dominic Academy, Jersey City, NJ and at Villa Marie Claire, Saddle River, NJ prior to her retirement in October 2007. Sister was pre-deceased by her brothers, David, Denis, John, Michael and sisters Katherine Lyne, Eileen McGuinness, Brigid O’Shea, and Mary Catherine. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in England, Ireland and Japan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 2-6 PM in St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 9:30 AM in St. Michael Villa Chapel. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632-2806. Arrangements made by Angelo G.
