Sr. Teresa Carberry

Sr. Teresa Catherin Carberry CSJP, died on April 25, 2015 at St. Michael Villa, Englewood Cliffs. A native of Jersey City NJ; she was a graduate of St. :Michael High School, Gass of 1936. She earned a BA inEducation and a MA in Administration from Seton Hall University in So·uth Orange, NJ. Sister Teresa Catherine was a member of the Sisters of St. Joeseph of Peace for 71 years. Sister Teresa Catherine Carberry was a teacher and principal inNew Jersey schools in Penns Grove, Medford, Fords, Wayne and Edgewater. Her second career began in Jersey City, NJ as Administrator of St. Joseph Homefor the Blind from 1981to1997. When she retired, Sister served on the Boards of Trustees of the Edgewater, NJ Public Libra ry, and the St. Joseph School for the Blind in Jersey City and the McCarrick Care Cenh!r in New Brunswick, NJ. She was predeceased by her father, James and her mother, Mary Fox Carberry of Westmeath, Ireland and a resident of Jersey City for 65 years; her brothers Monsignor James Carberry of the Archdiocese of Newark and Thomas J.Carberry, a Hudson County employee, and her sister, Sister Marian James Carberry of Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Sister Teresa Catherine is survived by her loving community,the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, her niece Ann Marie and husband Emanuel Comandatore, 7 grandnieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 205, from 2-7 PM at St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael Villa Chapel. Interment at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632 or Cusack Care Center at St. Joseph's Home for the Blind, 537 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07306.
