Michael Dietsch Obituary

DIETSCH Michael Murray - On March 9, 2014 Mike ended his courageous 18 year battle with cancer. Family was the very centre of his life with service to his community and politics being an ever so important second. He was married to the love of his life and best friend Gail. They would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary on the day of his passing. Mike will be remembered with love, laughter and for his commitment to his six children and their families; Pat and Dan Tebbutt (Bram, Melissa, and Sean), Linda and David Bird (Andrew), Mike and Maureen (Tiffany, Ashley, Michael, Bayley and Erik), Paul and Natasha (Liam and Kaleb), Jody Golding (Justin, Tyler, Austin, Nolan, and Leah), and Matthew and Kristen (Dylan). Dad is survived by 2 of his 7 siblings; Frank (Barb) and Margaret. Although his political life was important to Mike as he believed you should give back to your community, his family always came first. Believing that keeping them happy, strong and together was his priority. Mike was always there to help and cheer you on. His leadership was well respected by all he worked with and came in touch with. There is no way to sum up our dad and our Papa in just a few words. Our family would like to sincerely thank all friends, relatives and the community who have been there to support Dad and the family on this journey. A special thanks to the oncology staff in the Walker Family Cancer Centre and the caring personnel of Unit 3B of the Palliative Care Unit at the General. The staff could not have been more loving and caring. What can we say to the family of Dr. Samosh as they grieve his loss, except thank you and God be with you. Dr. Finlay you did Martin proud, you stepped in and took over. You could not have done a better job. Our sincere thanks. Also a special thank you to Dr. Karen Berti. Donations can be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Visitation will be held at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Niagara on the Lake, on Wednesday March 12 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm with Prayers at 3 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Thursday March 13th at 11 am. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
