Jim Santiago Rosas Silvas, Jr., 75, of Mexia passed away June 12, 2013 at The Manor Healthcare Residence in Mexia, where he had resided for almost four months. Jim was born January 2, 1938 in Marlin, Texas to Jimmy Santiago Pena Silvas, Sr. and Julia Rosas Silvas. He married Mary Louise Silvas on November 26, 1958 in Marlin. He was a paint contractor in Marlin and Mexia for many years, prior to his retirement in 2000. Jim loved to fish and just being outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He had been attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Mary on August 1, 2003. Jim is survived by his daughters, Melissa Candanoza and husband, Jose R. Candanoza and their three children of Mexia, Mary Helen Rogers and husband, Kevin Rogers and their four daughters of Wortham, and one other daughter; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters. Jim’s family would like to extend their appreciation and many thanks to the staff of The Manor Healthcare Residence and Southern Care Hospice for the wonderful care given to their father.
