James H. Thompson Portland, Michigan Age 79, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015. He was born on September 7, 1935 in Portland, MI the son of Paul and Gladys (Greenhoe) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a "Tinner" for many years, and loved traveling, especially to Canada and winters in Florida. Jim enjoyed playing poker, loved to sing, had a way of making life fun, and had a great love for life. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lawless on June 14, 1958, and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2015. Also preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Margaret. Surviving are his children, Karen (John) Mullane, Dennis (Jennifer) Thompson, Joan (Bill) Durkin, Robert (Julie) Thompson, and Judy (Kevin) Boley; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Mary Goins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 1, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
