Herbert Platte
Age 51, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 due to complications from surgery. He was born on June 20, 1960 in Lansing, MI the son of Julius and Patricia (Manning) Platte. Herb was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling, and he also had a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Rose; grandparents, Ed and Lorenna Manning, and Ben and Mary Platte. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Shelly; children, Mike (Amanda) Platte of Muir, Tom (Melinda) Platte of Ionia, and Adam Platte of Lyons; grandchildren, Sydney, Gunner and JoAnna Platte; parents, Julius and Pat Platte; siblings, Judy (Jay) Ford, Tim (Amy) Platte, Ben Platte, Ted (Betsy) Platte, and Jill Platte; in laws, Jim and Sharon Hoppes, Toni (Chuck) Miller, Craig Hoppes, Joe (Marion) Hoppes, Bonnie (Bob) Rockey, Kirk (Michele) Hoppes, Vic Hoppes, Becky (Scott) Hodge, and Kris (Dan) Platte; godmother, Rosie Manning; many good friends; special pet, a yorkie named Peanut. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with the Rev. John Prominski, Pastor of Resurrection Life Church of Ionia, presiding. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
