Michael Honsowitz

Eagle Age 61, passed away on March 30, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 7, 1949 in Portland the son of Hugh and Betty (Lenneman) Honsowitz. Mike was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He retired after 38 and half years from G.M., after retirement he worked for Builders Lumber and Circle J Ranch in Portland. Mike loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed making latch hook rugs. His greatest love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh and a sister, Victoria VanAlstine. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Jane; children Michelle (Randy) Hodge, Todd (Wendy) Honsowitz, Ryan (Sarah) Honsowitz, Scott (Keelie) Honsowitz and April (Kyle) Nickols; grandchildren Savannah and Samuel Hodge, Rayna, Rylee, Isaac, Isabel, Emma, Mattie Honsowitz and Ethan Nickols; mother, Betty Honsowitz; siblings Joseph (Eileen) Honsowitz, Barbara (Skip) Bever, Thomas (Janice) Honsowitz; brother-in-law, Leonard (Barbara) VanAlstine; mother-in-law, Frances Pohl; several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. Chaudhury and his staff at the Breslin Cancer Center for their care given to Mike. Memorial contributions may be made to the Breslin Cancer Center or Hospice Advantage in memory of Mike. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
