Mary Pohl

Age 89, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010. She was born on July 21, 1920 in Hancock, MI the daughter of Frank and Rita (Opie) Recchy. Mrs. Pohl was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She worked for many years at Knapps Department Store and also at Eberhards Grocery Store. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, John Grunwald Daman; 2nd husband, Herbert Pohl; son, John Daniel Daman; daughter, Constance Byrnes; brothers, Opie John Recchy and Donald Joseph Recchy. Surviving are her children, Thomas (Judy) Daman of Bath, Theresa (Steve) Auvenshine of Canton, Elizabeth (Dean) Baker of Mason, and Rita Arnesen of Dewitt; son-in-law, Ron Byrnes of Mecosta; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Avis Recchy, Dorothy Allen, Dorothy Wakley, and Rosemary Pung; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday with a rosary being prayed at 3 pm and a scripture service being held at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hometown Hospice, 1330 Imlay City Road, Suite B, Lapeer, MI 48446, in memory of Mrs. Mary C. Pohl.
