Florian Barker

Florian William Barker Muir, MI Age 88, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed peacefully away into eternal life on Sunday, April 29, 2007. He was born October 15, 1918 in Westphalia, MI the son of Louis and Mary (Fernholz) Barker. Florian retired from General Motors in 1981. Florian was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved raising and showing animals, particularly dogs and horses, playing cards with family and friends and was an all-time fan of the Detroit Tigers. Florian was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Angelian; two children, Robert Barker of Linwood and Susan (Joseph) Scarane of Lansing; 4 grandchildren, Paul Barker, Stephen (Patty) Barker, Matthew Scarane and Kristin Scarane; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael, Andrew and Nicholas; siblings, Jerome Barker of Ionia, Elmer (Loraine) Barker of Lansing, Robert (Kathleen) Barker of Pewamo, Alberta (Richard) Thelen of Lansing, and Marvin (Sandra) Barker of Ionia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for their loving care and compassion. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Melvin Fox at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Ss.
