Reed Hanson

Reed Frederic Hanson, 60, of Southlake, TX, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. Reed was born August 17, 1955 in Britton, South Dakota to June (Turnbloom) and Frederic Hanson. He grew up in Duluth, Minnesota and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth where he studied chemistry and joined the Air Force ROTC program with the goal of becoming a pilot. He served in the Air Force for twenty-one years as a flight instructor, a C-5 pilot, a flight scheduler with the UN in Somalia, and an Operations Research Analyst. After retiring from the service, he went on to a career with American Airlines, and later to one with Southwest Airlines. Reed is survived by his wife, Caroline; his two daughters Kelly and Kayla; his three sisters Nancy, Marcia, and Julie; his brother-in-law Stuart; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A military memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek, Dallas TX 76211. A religious memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Hope United Methodist Church, 301 West St. Marie Street Duluth MN 55803. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society to support cancer research.
