Riley Norris

Riley L. Norris, Jr., 78, of Foley, Alabama, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015, in Pensacola, Florida, peacefully with his two daughters beside him holding his hands. He was a 42 year continuous member of the American Legion, a 16 year member of the Elks and a 3 year Trustee, and a member of the Bloomington Jaycees. Riley retired from the Minneapolis Local 386 Painters Union. He served in the US Army from 1950-1955 and was in the Korean War. He was a member for 37 years in the Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minnesota. Riley was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Joyce M. Norris; son, Duane Summerlin; and daughter, Diane Yellow. He is survived by three daughters, Rita Windham; Deborah Norris (Pete Sitzman), and Donnarae (Lenny) Engman; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015, at Washburn-McReavy Bloomington Chapel (2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431.) Visitation for family and friends will be held 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Washburn-McReavy Dawn Valley Memorial Park (9940 Bush Lake Road, Bloomington, MN 55438.) Lewis Funeral Home, Milton, Florida, is in charge of local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in Riley's memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or through their website at info@kidney.org.
