Martha Hancock

Miss Martha Ray Hancock, age 65, of Swords Creek, Virginia passed away Sunday (July 26, 2015) in an Abingdon, Virginia hospital. Born February 13, 1950 in Montcalm, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George Walker Hancock and Margaret Ann Davidson Hancock Richardson. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Pisgah Holiness Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one nephew, Verlin Eugene Farmer and her step-father, Walter Richardson and her maternal grandparents, Homer and Glady Davidson. Survivors include one sister, Hannah Jeanette Farmer of Swords Creek, Virginia; nieces, Brenda Farmer Hess and husband, Glenn of Belfast, Virginia and Mary Farmer Owens and husband, Ricky of Bluefield, Virginia; nephews, John Farmer and wife Teresa of Swords Creek, Virginia and Mark Farmer and wife, Brenda of Raven, Virginia; niece-in-law, Patty Farmer of Richlands, Virginia; several great-nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff Dickensonville Assisted Living and Johnston Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Altizer and Rev. Jim Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery at Horton Ridge, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
