Dale Droppers

Dale Roger Droppers, 81, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born on May 1, 1935 in Sheboygan, to Herbert and Loretta (LeMahieu) Droppers. He was a 1953 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On August 24, 1956, he was united in marriage to Delores Mae Meerdink at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. In his younger years, Dale worked in construction for his father-in-law Harley Meerdink. Throughout the years, Dale was also employed at Vander Vaart Concrete, Bolens Manufacturing, and a school bus driver for many years for Otte Bus. Dale’s main love was farming and he spent the majority of his life raising cattle and growing crops. Dale enjoyed traveling, attending his grandchildren’s activities, visiting with family and friends, restoring tractors and collecting farm memorabilia and miniature tractors. Dale was a charter member of the Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a deacon and an elder. Dale was a board member for the Town of Holland and Pine Haven Christian Home. Dale is survived by his by wife Delores of almost 61 years, daughter Linda Sparks of Madison, son Craig (Susan) of Oostburg; four grandchildren, Matt Sparks, Leah (Brandon) Ruef, Ben and Kyle Droppers; 2 sisters, Donna (Mark) Oudersluys of Kalamazoo, MI, and Diane (Charles) Browne of Johnston IA; and one sister-law, Sharon (Eugene) Wisse of Oostburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many relatives and good friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law Harley and Ellen Meerdink. A funeral service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 12pm, at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Ronald Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg, from 5-8 pm and again on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the CHURCH from 11am until the time of service at 12 pm.
