Mary Sparks

Mary Louise Barnes Sparks age 92 of Railroad Avenue Rutherforton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 15 at the home of her son in Tarboro, NC. She was born on November 5, 1918 in Union Mills, NC. The daughter of the late Glenn and Nannie C. Barnes. A retired cosmetologist she owned her own salon, “Bobby’s Beauty Nook” where she worked for 25 years. She was a life long member of Southern Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, the late Robert Bruce Sparks, two sister and five brothers. She is survived by her son Robert Glenn Sparks and his wife Virginia of Tarboro, NC. Two granddaughters, Ginny Thompson (John) and Carol Proctor (Nick), three great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at Eleven O’clock AM on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Southern Baptist Church Rutherfordton, NC with Rev. John Perry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rutherford County Hospice POB 336 Forest City, NC 28043 or to Hospice of Edgecombe County.
