Betty Dowdle

Betty Jane Bell Dowdle, age 77, of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at her home while being cared for by Hospice. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Radford Bell. Betty was a retired supply clerk for National Textiles and a member of Thermal City United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lester Earl Dowdle of the home; daughter, Robin Parton of Rutherfordton; sons Roger Bell of Texas and Ken Dowdle of Rutherfordton; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Tinsey Conner of Union Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Dowdle, sisters Ellen Simpson and Mildred Flack; brother James Bell. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 9 at Crowe’s Mortuary with Rev. Don Crawford and Rev. Allen Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or Thermal City United Methodist Church.
