ETHEL HELEN DARUKA SZABO, 84, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Frank (Fritz) Szabo, died peacefully on September 25, 2009. Left to treasure her memory are her beloved sons, Bruce and his wife Jean Szabo of Waycross, GA, and their children AWS2(NAC/AW) Christopher Szabo US Navy stationed in Guam, Melissa Adams & Jonathan Cotton, of Waycross, GA; Fritzalan and his wife Janice and their children Andrea, Nicholas and Lyndi Szabo of Newtown, CT, brother Robert Daruka and devoted friend and sister-in-law Dorothy Daruka both of Fairfield. She was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews and a cherished Godmother. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Jennie, brothers Ernest and Andrew Daruka and a sister Margaret Daruka. She was born in Fairfield, grew up in Bridgeport until making her home in Easton 49 years ago. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Bridgeport. She was retired from the Town of Easton School System. The memory of “Etty”, as she was known, will bring smiles to the faces of her family and friends as they recall her spirit of independence and determination. Ethel’s family appreciates her special friends in the Easton and Redding area for their faithful support and encouragement that kept her spirit alive. A memorial service will be held at 10am Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Easton Gazebo located at the Easton Community Center, 364 Sport Hill Rd., Easton.
