Jack Earnest

Jack B. Earnest, Sr., 89, of Lumberport, passed away at 11:50am, Friday, June 13, 2014 at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport. He was born in Sardis, August 22, 1924 a son of the late John and Pearl Shawhan Earnest. On January 31, 1948 he married Wanda June Gifford Earnest who preceded him in death on September 24, 2011. Surviving are two sons, Jack B. Earnest, Jr. and his wife Leslie, Wellsburg, WV, Jay D. Earnest and his wife Tammie, Dola, one daughter, Linda Rhodes and her husband Bill, Glady, WV, four grandchildren, Keri D. Griffith and her husband Justin, Kasey L. Earnest, Jay D. Earnest, II and Megan A. Earnest, two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Jayden Griffith, four brothers, George, Johnny, Richard, and Thomas Earnest, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Earnest and three sisters, Molly Harper, June Floyd, and Phyllis McCarty. Mr. Earnest was a WWII Veteran having served with the United States Navy. He was a retired coal miner having worked at several different mines over the years. He enjoyed farming. Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 5-8pm, Monday where funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, June 17 with Pastor James Burton officiating.
