Stoy Deaton

Blacksburg -- Stoy Deaton, 95, of 231 Tucker Road, passed away Saturday, January 28th, 2012, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Born in Gainesville, GA, Mr. Deaton was the widow of Mary Louise Tucker Deaton and the son of the late Claude and Bell Jenkins Deaton. He retired from textiles and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mr. Deaton is survived by a son, Ronnie Deaton, of Blacksburg; five daughters, Brenda Giles of Gaffney, Wanda Dixon, Sue Bridges, Joyce Jolly, and Kim Patterson, all of Blacksburg; two brothers, James and Clarence Deaton, both of Kings Mountain; twenty-one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Deaton was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Deaton; four brothers, Ettra, Roy, Maynard, and Jack Deaton; and three sisters, Geneva Deaton, Helen Owens, and Lounell Payne. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 31st, 2012, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Grady Gregory officiating.
