Nancy Romaniello

Nancy H. Romaniello, Retired from Mass Mutual Waterbury, CT Nancy H. Romaniello, who was born on October 7, 1942, a daughter of the late P. Anthony and Mary (Police) Romaniello, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday June 26, 2015, following a long illness. Nancy was the faithful and loving spouse of Carol Martin. In her younger days, Nancy enjoyed downhill skiing, ice skating, bowling and was an excellent markswoman. She was famous for her Christmas Eve gatherings at her home and was a fabulous baker. She was heavily involved in CCD classes at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Nancy loved to play the piano and was best known for her rendition of “Come back to Sorrento”. After her retirement from Mass Mutual, Nancy and Carol enjoyed going to the beach and visiting Mohegan Sun. Together they loved gardening, and were very proud to have won the 2004-2005 Waterbury Home Beautification Award. Left to miss her besides Carol, is her sister and brother-in-law, Angela (Romaniello) Matusz and Dr. Robert P. Matusz of Naugatuck, her stepson, Jeffrey Martin of Florida, her step grandsons, Jordan Martin and Zachary Martin of Torrington, and her best friends for 52 years, Jim and Barbara Dowling. Nancy also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Steve Howard and Shawna Cleary and her husband Brian, along with many cousins and extended family members. Nancy had a host of friends who will remember her as a devoted friend. She was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Tiffany Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury. At Nancy’s request, there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. To honor Nancy’s memory, contributions may be made to CT Humane Society, Bethany Shelter, 788 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Hospice Care, HOPE Team, 50 Brookside Road, Waterbury, CT 06708.
