Eileen Kennedy Enfield, Connecticut Obituary

Eileen Kennedy

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved mother, Eileen V. Kennedy, 80 of South Windsor and formerly of Enfield, passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday October 22, 2008 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1928 in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine (Hanifin) Kennedy and had resided in South Windsor for the past 4 years and for 45 years in Enfield before that. Prior to her retirement in 1991 Eileen was employed for many years with Travelers Insurance Co. She was a member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club, Springfield, Enfield Senior Citizens and Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. In her leisure time she enjoyed Irish step dancing, visits to the casino, and, most of all, spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren. Left to mourn her passing are her loving children; Maureen McComb and husband, Quentin of Spring Hill, FL, Michael Kennedy and wife, Denise of Scottsdale, AZ, Patrick Kennedy and wife, Sandra of South Windsor, CT and Timothy Kennedy and wife, Nancé of Deltona, FL, her seven beloved grandsons; Michael and Brian McComb and Ryan, Adam, Noah, Evan, and Sean Kennedy, her beautiful granddaughter Ayden Kennedy and her great grandson, Michael McComb, Jr. She also leaves two sisters, Anne Jankiewicz and husband, Edward of Springfield, MA and Mary Magnani and husband, John of Somers, CT, along with many nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her sister, Rita Hodge and her two brothers, James and Thomas Kennedy. The family would like to thank Mahda, Mom's caregiver, for her unending devotion over this past year. While we know you are at peace now Mom and that your suffering is over, we still miss you and we always will! May God bless you and keep you safe until you can hold us in your arms again.
I am home in Heaven, dear ones, oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But, Jesus' arm to lean on, could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still; try to look beyond earth's shadows, pray to trust our, Father's will. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand; do it now, while life remaineth, you shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, oh, the joy to see you come!
Funeral services in celebration of Eileen's life will be held on Monday October 27, 2008 with the funeral procession forming at 10:45am from Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield to Scared Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St. Springfield, MA for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield, MA. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday October 26, from 2 to 5pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson's Disease Assoc.
