Ervin Francis “Bud” Delaney, 93, died Friday, August 21, 2015, in Rosewood on Broadway Care Center in Fargo. Bud Was born April 18 1922, the youngest child of Charles and Mary (Evanson) Delaney in Pleasant View Township, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. He grew up on the Delaney Homestead and farmed with his brothers until his enlistment on December 8, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He served with the 62nd Armored Infantry Battalion, 14th Armored Division, 7th Army in Europe. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge where he sustained disabling wounds near the Siegfried Line on March 2, 1945 in France. The night before he was injured, he captured three German soldiers while on guard duty. He was discharged on July 18, 1945 and moved to Fargo not long afterward. He worked at American Crystal Sugar, also was a custodian at the Catholic school in Fargo, and delivered fuel oil for many years. He enjoyed animals, especially horses and dogs. He was preceded in death by brothers: David, Clarence “Tim”, Henry and Charles and sisters: Laura Lindberg, Gladys Lunney, and Norma Buurman. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
