Ruth Lumpkin Tate, 87 of Picayune passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016. Ruth was born April 27, 1929 in Carriere, Mississippi. She graduated from Carriere High School and attended Pearl River Junior College. <br><br>Ruth was of the Baptist Faith and a lifetime resident of Picayune. She was manager of Sears Roebuck for many years, and worked for Tate Oil Company and Cooper Realty. She enjoyed traveling, genealogy, playing Bridge, helping with the Shiner’s Bingo, flower arranging. She loved to read, especially her Bible and spending time with her family. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many.<br><br>She was preceded in death by her parents; Bennie and Zibbie Lumpkin, brothers; Dudley Lumpkin (Freda), Garland Lumpkin, Aubrey Lumpkin (Pat Nestler Lumpkin Skellie), sister, Valerie Lumpkin Wallace (Marvin), and loving husband of 61 years, Hayward L. <br>Tate.<br><br>Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Deborah Tate Carter (Steve); two grandsons, Darin Lamont Carter (Jennifer) and Christopher Allen Carter (Penny); four great-grandchildren: Victoria, Collin, Allie and Ethan Carter; sister-in-laws; Sara Lumpkin, Rosemary Tate, and brother-in-law, Billy E. Tate; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.<br><br>Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Picayune Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clark Stewart and Bro. Arlis Grice officiating. Burial will be follow at Carriere Cemetery. <br><br>In lieu of flowers please make donations to your local church or the Wounded Warriors Project.<br>
