Lora McMahon

Lora Maxine McMahon, of Mexia, passed away February 18, 2020 in Groesbeck, Texas at the age of 86. Funeral services will be 11:00 am., Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel in Mexia with Rev. Emory Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. John Sodolak, Bryan McAlpine, Caleb McMahon, James Strong, Ben McMahon and Russell McMahon will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rebecca Colburn, Eden Maddalone, Cara Mose, Jana Strong and Chris McMahon. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Maxine was born July 14, 1933 in Mexia, Texas to Elmer Octavis and Ether Mae Williams Russell. She married Bryan McClure McMahon on June 26, 1953 and they were blessed with four children, Terry, Sherry, Kerry and Gerry. In addition to being a full time wife and mother, she worked as a bookkeeper for Flintex, a carpet company for a number of years. Maxine loved nothing more than having her home filled with family, especially, the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her grandchildren. Although cooking was not something she really enjoyed, she was a very good cook. She also enjoyed watching old Western movies, music, playing the guitar and singing in church. Maxine was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ether Russell; husband of 37 years, Bryan McMahon; daughter, Gerry Bell; brothers, Albert, Dan, Paul, Henry and Virgil Russell; and sister, Eva Powell. Maxine is survived by her loving children, Terry Sodolak and husband, L.J., Jr. of Sealy, Sherry McMahon of Jewett, and Kerry McMahon and wife, Donna of Mexia; grandchildren, Rebecca Colburn and husband, Steve, John Sodolak and wife, Tiffany, Eden Maddalone, Bryan McAlpine and wife, Jessica, Cara Mose and husband, Alex, Jana Strong and husband, James, Caleb McMahon, Russell McMahon and wife, Tiffany, Ben McMahon and wife, Brandy and Christopher McMahon; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Ruby Randall of Chandler, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
