Gordon Burnett

Gordon “Bruce” Burnett passed away May 29th, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, he was 63. Bruce was born in Durango, Colorado on September 12, 1952. He graduated from Durango High School in 1970, and later earned a Bachelors from Fort Lewis College. Over his life Bruce engaged in many hobbies and interests, including hunting, skiing, scuba diving, politics, and especially the history of South West Colorado. Each he pursued with a passion but none more than seeking out knowledge and learning as much as possible. His quest for knowledge took him to the U.K. where he grew to love all things “anglo”. He became an honorary Welshman when he married his current wife Ann on 23rd March 2009. He was a consummate story teller and was renowned within the family for “having one for just about everything” often including gems of little known information. Bruce was well known in the community as the co-owner of Basin Propane and was an active member of the Elks Lodge for many years. Bruce will be remembered for his sense of humor, incredible intelligence and as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his faithful canine companion Sophie. He is pre-deceased by his parents Gordon and Priscilla Burnett. He is survived by his wife Ann; former wife Cindy Gagnon of Durango; son Andy Burnett of Durango; daughter Marla Holgate of Durango; daughter Laura Anderson of Durango; grandsons Carter and Caleb Anderson; granddaughter Bailey Holgate; sister Linda Burnett of Bloomfield, New Mexico; half brother Glenn Priest of Woodville Alabama; Uncle Jack Petty of Tucson, Arizona; nephew Michael Burnett of Bloomfield, New Mexico.
