Giovanni (John) passed away very peacefully at the age of 85 surrounded by the people he loved the most. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years Ada and his children Raffaele, Fiorella and Mario, Anna and Len. He will be especially missed and affectionately remembered by his grandchildren Thomas, Megan, Lucas and Emma who all saw past his tough guy exterior to the soft putty heart he had for all of them. He will also be missed by his big sisters Bianca and Antonietta, and his sister in law Rosa, predeceased by, his sister in law Amelia, his brothers in law Lucido, Antonio, Vincenzo and Luigi. He will be fondly remembered by his many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces who all held a very special place in his heart. He lived his life with a fierce independence until the end with a still valid driver’s licence and the biggest stockpile of groceries, just in case. If you wanted warm, fuzzy and soothing it was best to go elsewhere. His opinion and wisdom were always ready to be dispensed. If you chose not to accept and/or follow said opinion and wisdom it was done so at great risk of hearing, “Nu ma statu a sendi, peggiu pi te”. Those who knew him best recognized him as a generous man and that is how he will be remembered.
