“Coach” Robert “Bobby” Earl Joyce, JR.,79 of Greensboro, NC passed away on Friday, February 14,2020. He was born in Martinsville, VA to the late Robert Earl “Doc” Joyce, Sr. and Jeanne Furbeck Joyce. Bobby was also preceded in death by his sons Robert Earl Joyce, III and Mark Emory Joyce, and half-sister Suzanne Strange. He was a long-time resident of Fieldale, VA and a graduate of Fieldale High School. He was also a graduate of East Carolina University and The University of Virginia. In conjunction to being both a truly devoted husband and father, Bobby was a passionate educator, mentor and coach who was loved by many. His selfless dedication to education left an everlasting impact that spanned over a 40 year career. Bobby was an avid golfer, fisherman, sports enthusiast, coach and devoted dog lover. Bobby is survived by his wife of 61 years Linda Hundley Joyce, sons Jay Joyce and wife Cara of Collinsville, VA, Jon Joyce wife Rhonda of Jacksonville, NC; four grandchildren Jordan Gaylor, Caylee Barnhart, McKenzie Joyce, Christian Joyce and sister-in-law Mary Lou Yeatts and husband Dewey. In accordance with the wishes of the Joyce family, funeral services will not be conducted. The family will hold a private memorial at a time and location that has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project. Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville, VA is serving the Joyce family.
