It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine Elizabeth (Harper) Ryan, at the Brockville General Hospital on Friday, May 13, 2011. Born in Brockville, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for retail mercantile in the Brockville area. Her favorite pastimes were knitting, eating and watching TV sporting events. She is survived by her son, Michael (Barbara) of Halifax by her grandson Paul (Jennifer) and by her cousin Frances Rushford-Polleta and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband James, granddaughter Michelle; sisters Pearl, Olive, Myrtle, Violet, and Doris; brothers Samuel, John and Lawrence; Thelma and Helen in infancy. A memorial service will be held at The Irvine Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre at Roselawn, 2451 Maitland Road, Maitland on Tuesday at 3 pm, with interment and reception to follow. Our thanks to doctors and nurses at the Brockville General who gave her wonderful care. Our thanks must also be extended t o all the staff involved with her care at Wellington House, Prescott.
