Verda Jane Phillips

Verda Jane Phillips of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on Thursday, April 24, 1941 in Potosi, Missouri. A daughter of the late, Ethel Mae (Goodson) Jenkins and the late, Quinten Philburn Jenkins, Sr. Verda departed this life on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-five years, three months and twenty-two days. She was united in marriage to Carter "Jake" Phillips on Saturday, October 24, 1959 in Potosi, Missouri and was blessed with three children. She is survived by three daughters, Roxanna Williams of Mineral Point, Missouri; Paula Williams of Mineral Point, Missouri; Lisa Clapp of Terre Du Lac, Missouri; one sister, Erleen and husband, Jerry Coleman of Mineral Point, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Amy and husband, Chris Hoover, Jamie Williams and special friend, Jaimee Boyer, Jennifer Clapp and fiancé, Bill, Sarah Bourisaw and husband, Kenny, Samantha Williams, Brittnee Rulo and husband, Michael, Cody Williams and fiancé, Lindsey; twelve great-grandchildren: Tyler Aubuchon, Kenny, Eli and Natalie Bourisaw, Riley and Reece Michalek, Logan, Emma and Gage Rulo, Weston, Walker and Ava Williams; sisters-in-law, Fay Fischer, Margaret Phillips and Dolly Jenkins; also surviving are other relatives and many many friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carter "Jake" Wayne Phillips and one brother, Quinten Philburn Jenkins, Jr. Verda Jane was a member of the Mineral Point United Methodist Church. She enjoyed caring for her pets, Harry and Jake and her many cats. Going shopping with Erleen and reading medical books were a couple of her favorite pastimes. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren who called her Nana and her great-grandchildren who called her Ninny. Verda Jane always had a smile on her face and enjoyed laughing. She will forever be remembered for her loving and caring ways. Visitation was held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi. A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor David Lindow officiating. Final prayers and burial took place in the Scott Cemetery in Belgrade, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Greg Coleman, Drew Coleman, Kenny Bourisaw, Terry Williams, Cody Williams, Garrett West and Michael Rulo. Services were entrusted under the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, MO 63664.
