Muriel Elaine Gilbert Pine Valley, NY passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020 at the age of 86 surrounded by her loving family and precious companion Miss Kitty. Elaine was born in Dansville, NY, a daughter to the late Waldo and Helen Smith Hoag. She is also pre-deceased by her daughter, Yvonne Grindel; her siblings, Helen Bricks, George Hoag, Henrietta Sylor, DeMerle Hoag, and Thelma DePuy. She is survived by her husband, John Gilbert; daughters, Jacqueline Gilbert (Joseph Sliwa), Gwendolyn Austin, Belinda (Daniel) Burczynski; three grandchildren, Michael (Morgan) Grindel, Angela (Brian) Spake, and Brenton Austin; three great grandchildren, Marin Spake, Sorin Spake, and Lennon Julia Grindel; sister, Wilma Yohonn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was blessed with 63 years of marriage and will be lovingly remembered for the care and thoughtfulness of raising her four girls. She was very involved in managing many horse shows, an avid seamstress, and supporting her children’s various activities. She and her husband John spent several years attending horse shows with her horse boutique business. In her later years she enjoyed cuddling her Kitty while watching professional Bull-riding and enjoying the wildlife outside her kitchen window. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 10-11AM. Elaine’s Funeral Services will be held immediately following with Fr. John DeSosio. She will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
