Robert "Beef" Ramsey Obituary

Robert A. “Beef” Ramsey, 67, of Berlin, passed away at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Berlin, NH on October 15, 1952, the son of Rene L. and Jaqueline (Coulombe) Ramsey. Beef attended Berlin High School Class of 1970 and later graduate from the University of New Hampshire. He served in the Army National Guard for 25 years (1969-1995) and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For many years he was employed at the local paper mill, retiring as Superintendent of the Pulp Mill. Beef was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and volunteered for many years at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop, now known as Guardian Angel Thrift Shop. Members of the family include his wife Sylvia (Poirier) Ramsey of Gorham; daughters Sara Goulette and husband Jason of Grafton, NH and Lori Cillo and husband Jason of Milford, NH; son Todd Ramsey of Gorham, NH; grandchildren Allison, Brody, Connor and Caidence; mother Jacqueline Ramsey of Berlin; brothers Francis Ramsey and wife Rose Ann of Lee, NH, Russell Ramsey and wife Celeste of Port Orange, FL, Charles Ramsey and wife Lilly of Essex Junction, VT, and Michael Ramsey and wife Bobbie of Huntington, VT; brother in law Linwood Martel of Vermont; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Rene L. Ramsey and his sister Susan (Ramsey) Martel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 10am at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin followed immediately by military funeral honors. Interment will take place at St. Anne Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 6-8pm and on Tuesday morning from 8:30-9:30am at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Guardian Angel Thrift Shop, Marie Rivier Food Pantry, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, or Coos County Nursing Home Activities Fund.
