Norma Hicks Humble, Texas Obituary

Norma Hicks

Norma Lee Hicks was born in Anson, Texas to Ray and Wilma Anderson on January 14, 1935 and concluded her Earthly life under the watch of family and friends in Houston, Texas on February 13th, 2020. She spent much of her youth in Anson, Abilene, Texas area and her last years in Spring, Texas where she dedicated her time and daily efforts to her devotion to God, her home and the animals that she loved dearly. Norma was a devoted member of the Deerbrook Church of Christ and she enjoyed discussing scripture and the teachings of the Bible with anyone who would share in the conversation. She loved to attend church and provide a loving home for rescue animals that found their way to her doorstep. She loved poetry, art and could be found writing, sketching and painting things that captured her imagination. A grandchild would most likely find a bowl of ice cream or a cookie next to those illustrated poems and paintings in progress. In 1963, Norma married Kenyon Hicks and between them they cared for four sons under the Texas sky: Curtis Anderson, Roger McCoy Sr., Ronnie Clayton and Jay Hicks. Norma is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Kenyon and her youngest son Roger, who now hold her in their arms. She is survived by her sons Curtis, Ronny and Jay as well as her grandchildren Ashley Waldron, Breanna Osbourn, Drew Clayton, Greg Clayton, Roger McCoy Jr and her five great grandchildren Chandler Vargas, Ean Osbourn, Adilyn Osbourn, Nolan Clayton and Emmitt Clayton. She leaves Curtis her sweet rescue dog, Sophie. Family and friends may join us in celebrating Norma’s life by attending her visitation period on Thursday, February 20th from 4PM to 8PM and her memorial service on Friday, February 21st at 10AM. Both moments of tribute will be held at the Rosewood Funeral Home Humble, 2602 South Houston Ave., Humble, Texas 77346.
